Orioles Host Spring Training and More Where: Sarasota's Ed Smith Stadium

Sarasota's ties to Major League Baseball spring training date back to the 1920s, when the New York Giants played at Payne Park in the city's downtown. Over the next eight decades, the community hosted several ball clubs, and now claims the Baltimore Orioles as its Grapefruit League home team.

In fact, the Orioles have operated an athletic training center in Sarasota County since 1991, moving their spring training operations to Ed Smith Stadium and the Buck O'Neil Baseball Complex in 2010, after a major renovation of both facilities.

Since then, more than a half million fans have enjoyed spring training games in the Florida sunshine at the new Ed Smith Stadium. The ballpark is family- and fan-friendly with a range of seating options, including historic Camden Yards seats in the stands, the popular Left Field Pavilion, and the air-conditioned Third Base Lounge and World Series Suites.

In addition to spring training, the Orioles host a variety of public and private events in Ed Smith Stadium's unique entertainment environment. For information, visit
